OOPSLA 1999 trip report, Friday

On Friday, morning dawned and under sleepless duress, I sat with Claus and Dr. Ungar and got a detailed tour of Smalltalk/X. As mentioned earlier Dr. Ungar thought it was magnificent.

For lunch a bunch of us Smalltalkers (from the USA, and Europe too) went for lunch at a Taiwan restaurant, cafeteria style, which reminded me of my time at Dr Ralph Johnson's Smalltalk Summer School where weekly we attended a similar restaurant catering to poor starving university students and of course we outdid each other on how hot the food could be, that we could consume.

On the way back I had to take a different crosswalk and a dozen or so Smalltalkers waved back and said goodbye, it was perhaps touching and brought tears to my eyes. A short but fun week. I wonder if the Java folks had as much fun, I think not...

PS don't try outdoing Ed Reznichenko at Taiwan food, he has a stomach of steel and you will regret the encounter.

See Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday?
