Last year Hal Lancaster wrote an article in the Wall Street Journal for the Managing Your Career column entitled "Personal Web Sites". See WSJ 07/27/1999. In it he suggested that a Web site should present more detailed information than one would find in a traditional résumé, and that the Web should be used to its fullest potential with regards to career management and professional development. To that end I strive, and our index page should point to most everything I've been up to.

Many of the trip reports get placed onto a swiki for you as the public to edit, with some changes and cleanup to the Smalltalk Resources page .
Then I cluelessly destroyed my site swiki as part of a maintence thrust to migrate it to OpenBSD 2.9 from Linux 2.0.38 which was running on a macintosh 68040 Quadra 950 box. This required me to rebuild my swiki using the latest Comanche software and recover (most) of the data via a small Squeak program that I wrote that filtered thru 1 GB of raw disk. Somehow that machine failed to get backed up to those 8 DLT tapes and about 100+ CD-Rs we have in safekeeping. I must say the OpenBSD 2.9 installation was VERY painless. Even found a Squeak 3.0pre2 Port to install from the ports tree.

Moved the WebCam (buried in our comments page) outside and altered some of the HTML, now it reports the time the picture was taken using Smalltalk to build the timestamp, along with Squeak VM statistics. PS Yes I mostly broke it for the day.
