Linux Links, enjoy

Linux You Bet!

Books? Books? Looking for Books? I've read a few about Linux...

Penguin Computing

We've some of their boxes, very nice, like a dual pentium MMX400Mz box with lots of memory and disk space that acts as our Squid Cache, our storage facility, and our Oracle and soon our Gemstone database. Not to say I didn't want another Mac, but where to run NT, 98, OS/2? (Vmware fits the bill)

Red Hat

Red Hat, Inc. is a Linux software development company. Whether you're a longtime open-source enthusiast or simply want to explore your desktop options, you'll have more choices than you ever knew existed. They also made some folks very very rich when they did their IPO. Right now I've three boxs running it.

Linux is...

Linux is a free, Unix-like Operating System that is developed by a loosely knit team of talented programmers working from all over the world. Linux works on almost every kind of computer in existance, and provides a robust platform for a wide variety of applications. Some history can be found at IBM site about Linux: Its history and current distributions by Tomas Schenk

Unlike most Operating Systems Linux is free in almost all respects. One can download it off the internet at no charge, pass on copies to friends, and even modify its internals. This 'freeness' has been one of the most critical reasons for its success, and is turning heads in the industry and mainstream media.

PS I managed to get a 68K and powerPC version for free, the mind boggles.

Yes! The city close to me has their very own, very active Linux User Group.
