(OOPSLA 2002) Monday

back to Sunday

Note on Nov 11th 2002 this paged was moved to a Wiki so you can edit it there. Please read it over there, this copy is here for historical reasons. http://wiki.cs.uiuc.edu/CampSmalltalk/OOPSLA+2002+Trip+report+Monday

Bright and early this morning I found the Camp Smalltalk folks casting about for movie extras for a Switcher movie (migrating from any OO language, to Smalltalk; See the apple switcher ads if you are confused). They did have a more serious goal of finding some place to crash and setup a Camp before the official start at the exhibit hall. Later on tuesday I found them on the 6th floor where one could with the right orientation connect to the "linksys" 802.11b network and surf if required, goodness knows who or where or what that network was.

I had managed to find a place to sit in the VM workshop, which ran all day. It had a wide assortment of famous VM creators presented papers, along with some new faces from the Perl, and Ruby camps. I'll discuss that more in a bit about this workshop once I rewrite my notes.

Much later in the evening we all had the weird experience of being tossed out of an pseudo-english pub at 11 pm, most odd.
